Reasons Why Your Nissan Qashqai Key Fob Won't Work
The Qashqai's greater dimensions give it a distinct SUV-like ambiance. Its 19-inch alloy wheels on Ti and STL models may also be firm. The front tyres on the Qashqai could also lose traction on rough surfaces, and the CVT could occasionally show wrist-flexing torque steering.

This is generally caused by a dead coin battery which can be easily repaired in a matter of minutes. Make sure the replacement battery has the same size, voltage and specifications.
Water Damage
Water damage is among the most common reasons for the Nissan keyfob to display the "key ID is incorrect" message. The rubber seals on the key fob shield the chip's electronics, but prolonged exposure to moisture can cause it to stop working properly. It's typical to observe this if your keyfob was dropped in the ocean or in a pool. However, it can occur when it is wet from the rain or soapy hands.
If your key fob has been exposed to water over many years then you might need to clean it with isopropyl or electronic cleaner. Or, it could require the attention of a professional for repair or replacement.
If your key fob needs to be replaced, it is a relatively simple procedure. Make sure you've got the correct multipack (CR2032 3V). Open the front and rear cases with the flat-head screwdriver. It is necessary to remove the retaining clips made of metal and remove the old battery, then insert the new one. After reassembling the fob, put the mechanical key back in place and check that it works as expected. If it isn't then you'll have to go to your local Nissan dealer or a professional locksmith to replace the chip on the key. Fortunately the chip isn't normally damaged by exposure to water, so this should not cost you a lot.
Dead Coin Battery
Another common reason your Nissan Qashqai key fob may not function is that the battery in the coin has gone dead. These batteries usually last 3-5 years, but they may fail with time, particularly if the fob is frequently dropped. You can replace the battery, but make sure it is the same voltage and same size as the original. If you install a new battery, it may cause the key to be assigned a different key ID. This will prevent it from being connected to your vehicle.
The most effective method to replace the battery of a coin on the Nissan Qashqai key fob is by prying open the key fob using a small flat head screwdriver. In the screwdriver, push it into an angled notch on the bottom of the fob and move it around to separate the two halves of the key fob. Then, take out the old CR2025 button cell battery and replace it with the new one after confirming its location in the fob.
Check the terminals for dirt or water damage prior to installing the new battery. If there is clean the terminals with the smallest amount of isopropylethanol. You should also make sure the pole cables are plugged in correctly. They must be connected to the negative and positive poles of your battery, respectively.
Diagnostics of a fault
If your Nissan Qashqai's keys fob stops working after exposure to pure rainwater or clean tap water it could indicate that there's a problem with the internal chip. The battery replacement won't fix this, and you'll have to purchase the new key fob. If the key fob has stopped working after you dropped it, it's likely that the chip inside was damaged. You can usually get the key fob back to function again if you take it out and clean the chip using alcohol and paper towels and then put it back into.
Key ID Incorrect is a typical mistake that you might see on the dashboard of your vehicle. This means that the car is unable to recognize the key fob and will not allow it to start the engine. The issue can be caused by several things, including water damage, undetectable malfunctions in the key fob's circuitry, or RFID interference.
If the battery that powers 12 volts in your key fob is empty or isn't supplying enough electric current it will cease to function. This will affect the Nissan Qashqai's remote keyless system, central locking and the ability to start the engine with the key fob. If you're unable to unlock or lock the door by hand you must check the batteries inside your key fob to make sure they're in good shape. You can also try re-inserting the battery to reset the transmitter.
Reprogramming
If the key fob has not been submerged in salt water the key fob should be able to be revived after a simple rinse with clean water. You could also try cleaning the electronic chip using isopropyl alcohol or an electronic cleaner. If none of these works, you may need to replace the key fob.
If your Nissan Intelligent Key still does not function, there may be a problem with the connection between it and your vehicle. To relink it, start by turning the key in the ignition, without turning on the car. Continue to do this until the hazard light blinks twice. Then, turn the vehicle off and take the keys out.
Then, open the fob compartment in your vehicle. This is usually located in the door jamb, on the driver's side door handle or under an armrest. Find nissan smart key replacement marked "program" and press it. You will hear a chime when the process is completed.
It's time to test your Intelligent Key to the test. Set your feet a distance from the vehicle, and hit all the buttons on the key. If the lights flash or the horn sounds, then the key is connected to the Nissan. You can also test the key in close proximity.
